Is japanese fig invasive?
Certain Fig trees (Ficus species) are considered environmental weeds in Australia, New Zealand and California, inhabiting wetlands, rainforests and waterways. These species include Ficus carica and Ficus elastica. The plants usually reproduce vegetatively and grow slowly - they need 7,5 years on average to bear first flowers. For this reason, these species need time to spread, but in the right climate and favorable conditions, they can expand quickly and vigorously.
