Home > Question
How do you grow porcelain flower?
The porcelain flower is a tropical plant, so growing it in a pot indoors is highly recommended unless you have a very warm climate year-round. The plant can grow to be 6 m long, making it challenging to relocate, so try to pick a location you are happy with before training the vines.
A common issue with the porcelain flower is repotting before it is necessary. This plant prefers being a little root-bound - transplanting it into a bigger pot is likely to do more harm than good; it will be happy in its current pot for many years.
When necessary, repot in the spring into a pot only slightly bigger than the current one. Use a similar mix of soil, creating a hole just big enough for the root ball before filling in any gaps and watering well. Cease feeding for 5 or 6 weeks after, but make sure your porcelain flower does not dry out for too long.
