How does common liverwort spread?
Common liverwort spreads both sexually and asexually. Asexually, through fragmentation of the thallus or gemmae cups which contain disc-shaped pieces that disperse and grow into new individuals. Sexually, common liverwort produces male and female reproductive structures, and following fertilization, spores are released from specialized capsules. These spores then germinate to form new plants.
