How do you grow rye?
To grow rye, prepare well-drained soil with a pH near 6.0. Sow in early spring or fall, placing seeds 1-2 inches deep, spaced 1-2 inches apart, in rows 8-12 inches apart. Rye requires full sun and moderate water. Apply nitrogen-rich fertilizer sparingly. Control weeds, and monitor for pests or diseases. Rye matures in about 4 months. Harvest when the stalks are dry and the grains are hard.
