Understanding Overwatering
Overwatering a succulent refers to the situation when more water is given to the plant than it can use or store, leading to issues like root rot, yellowing or drooping leaves, and eventually plant death if not addressed. Understanding why overwatering is detrimental to succulents is crucial for their proper care. Succulents, native to regions with scarce water supply, have evolved to store water in their leaves, stems, and roots. When overwatered, these plants cannot process the excess water, leading to oversaturation and a ‘drowning’ effect.
