How to Grow and Care for Aegonychon

Aegonychon zollingeri(Aegonychon zollingeri) is a gorgeous flowering plant native to China, Korea and Japan. It has a creeping habit, growing from rhizomes. The latter part of its name, zollingeri, is after Heinrich Zollinger, a well-known botanist and explorer from Switzerland. The most striking thing about the blossom is the white star-shape contrasted against the powder blue leaves.

Blue gromwell showcases tall spires of tubular, deep blue to purplish flowers, which create a striking display against green foliage. Favoring woodlands and naturalized settings, this perennial thrives in dappled shade and well-draining soil. Its bloom period in late spring to early summer attracts pollinators, adding ecological value to its ornamental appeal.
