The leaves are 18 inches (45 cm) long and 1-1.5 inches (2.5-3.8 cm) wide, with a bluish-green glaucous hue. The margins are smooth and toothless near the tips, and bear small, soft teeth lower down. Each leaf is lined with a prominent cream band and ends with a short, red terminal spine. This plant requires full sun and minimal water. It's capable of withstanding temperatures down to 20° F (-6° C).
