Kangaroo vine (Cissus antarctica) is a plant species native to Australia. Kangaroo vine grows in a widespread manner in warmer rainforest of Australia's coastal regions. This species is considered a true climbing vine.

Native to Mexico, the possum grape's coiled tendrils can be observed climbing and swallowing entire trees. In addition to its decorative significance, this plant is grown for local usage as a source of fibers, soap, and medicine.

The Cissus trifoliata is a vine that sprawls and climbs over rocks and trees in different habitats. The plant produces small, inedible berries which ripen to black in the fall. The roots of the sorrelvine species are poisonous, and its sap can result in dermatitis on the skin of those who are sensitive to it.

The veldt-grape (Cissus quadrangularis) is a succulent native to tropical Asia and parts of Arabia and Africa. While it makes a good, low-maintenance windowsill plant, it can also climb tall trees using its grape-like tendrils, and cascade down from the top. It is tough and adaptable, surviving both drought and neglect.

Despite its name, grape ivy (Cissus alata) is neither a true grape nor ivy. However, it does have a sprawling growth pattern and grape-like leaves, which may explain its name. This plant tolerates poor growing conditions and is used as a houseplant and for groundcover.
