Flat-leaf gasteria is a small, stemless succulent with a distinctive appearance characterized by its thick, dark green leaves. Each leaf is strap-shaped, about 2 inches (5 cm) long, has a rough texture with uneven banded patterns, and comes to an acute point. The plant forms a low-profile rosette, with leaves initially arising in opposite pairs and lying almost flat. Over time, flat-leaf gasteria may develop small offsets to create a clump. In the blooming season, it produces unbranched flower stalks up to 12 to 20 inches (30 to 50 cm) tall, adorned with reddish-pink, pendulous flowers approximately an inch long.
