Black gin, also known as Kingia
Black gin (Kingia australis) is a slow-growing treelike plant that can live at least four hundred years. It has a striking appearance with flowers that bloom in bizarre round clusters at the end of long stems atop its trunk-like base. This Australian native is fibrous and was used in the past to make brooms and brushes.
