Creosote bush is characterized by its resilience and distinct features. Typically growing up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall, this evergreen shrub boasts multiple stems that branch out near the base. Its small, dark green leaves, each about 0.12 inches (3 mm) long, are covered with a shiny, resinous coat, which imparts a glossy appearance. The leaves are arranged in opposing pairs, sometimes appearing to be fused at the base. Tiny yellow flowers, with five petals each, emerge seasonally, usually after rain. These blossoms give way to conspicuously fuzzy, white fruit. Creosote bush possesses a dense network of shallow roots.
