How to Grow and Care for Chilean jasmine

Chilean jasmine, also known as Mandevilla, Chilean mandevilla, Summer snow, Bridal bouquet

Chilean jasmine is a moderately easy plant to care for, typically relishing a sunny to partially shaded spot with regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Special care for chilean jasmine includes protection from frost, as it is not frost-tolerant, and support structures to facilitate its natural climbing habit. Regular pruning will help maintain shape and promote vigorous growth.

Chilean jasmine is a moderately fast-growing vine reaching 12 feet (3.65 meters) in both height and width with the appropriate support structure. This semi-deciduous plant features slender stems and a succulent caudex buried underground. The bright green, glossy leaves have an elongated, tapering point and can grow up to 6 inches (15 cm) long. During the summer, chilean jasmine produces an abundance of white, tubular flowers that bloom 2 inches (5 cm) long and flare out to 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) wide. These flowers emit a subtle fragrance reminiscent of vanilla, particularly noticeable in the evenings. Following the flowering period, long bean-like fruit pods develop.
