How to Grow and Care for Miterworts

The twoleaf miterwort (Mitella diphylla) is a woodland plant found on moist, mossy banks. It is popular with gardeners, as it makes a good ground cover and puts on a spring display of delicate white flowers that are so geometrically intricate, they can best be appreciated with a magnifying glass.

Naked miterwort (Mitella nuda), also known as the Naked bishop's cap, is a low-growing flowering perennial. It has a single, light green, slightly serrated, and hairy leaf on a single stalk. It is native to the northern half of the United States and grows as a groundcover in wetlands, swamps, moist forests, and at stream banks.

Brewer's miterwort (Mitella breweri) is an herbaceous perennial that blooms from spring to summer with tiny yellowish-green flowers. It thrives in light shade and prefers moist soil. It is native to the north Pacific coast of the United States.

Mitella pentandra is a rhizomatous perennial herb growing up to about 50 to 60 cm tall.
