Sweet granadilla is a robust climbing vine characterized by woody stems at the base and tendrils for support. It has heart-shaped leaves measuring 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) in length, with a medium green upper surface and paler underside showcasing distinct veining. Fragrant flowers, around 4 inches (10 cm) wide, bloom in pairs near the leaf base, flaunting greenish white sepals and light pinkish-white petals with two bands of bluish purple filaments. The vine produces rounded yellow-orange fruit, approximately 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) in diameter, with light purple spots and a hard rind encasing gelatinous seed-containing pulp.
