How to Grow and Care for Featherhead

Featherhead

Featherhead is generally considered an easy-to-care-for plant that thrives with minimal attention. Key care requirements include well-draining soil and adequate sunlight, as it originates from environments that offer plenty of natural light. Special care should be taken not to overwater featherhead, as it is drought-tolerant and sensitive to excessive moisture. Ensuring proper drainage and avoiding waterlogged conditions will promote the health and longevity of the plant.

Featherhead is a dense, evergreen shrub reaching heights of 4 to 5 feet (1.2 to 1.5 meters). Its narrow leaves, about 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in length, are distinctly covered with golden hairs. During the blooming period from fall to late winter, featherhead sports conspicuous flattened, plumose heads, formed by feather-like bracts, which eclipse its small, whitish-brown flowers. The flower heads exhibit a golden hue that captures and reflects sunlight brilliantly. This species is capable of withstanding low temperatures down to around the low 20's° F (-6°C).
