Mastic tree is a robust evergreen shrub or small tree, reaching heights of up to 8+ feet (2.4+ meters) and spreading 10 to 15 feet (3 to 4.5 meters) wide. It boasts a mounding form with dark green, leathery, aromatic leaves arranged alternately. These compound leaves are paripinnate, lacking a terminal leaflet, and feature five to six pairs of leaflets on a winged central rachis. The tiny green flowers are dioecious, with male plants presenting five stamens and female plants producing small, initially red drupes that turn black upon ripening.
