Bog sage is an upright perennial that features many slender stems with deep grooves, reaching heights of 4 to 6 feet (1.2 to 1.8 meters) and spreading up to 3 feet (0.9 meters) or more in width. Its 1-inch (2.5 cm) lance-shaped leaves are lightly serrated, a yellow-green hue, and exhibit a slightly sticky texture. Distinctly, bog sage boasts deep sky-blue flowers, each half an inch long (about 1.3 cm), with a notable white beeline within the petal's throat. These blossoms are closely-clustered at the stem tops, blooming from late spring through fall.
