How to Grow and Care for Feverfew

Feverfew, also known as Bachelor's buttons, Featherfoil, Featherfew

Feverfew is recognized for its hardiness and minimal care needs, making it an excellent choice for gardeners of all skill levels. A key care point for feverfew is to ensure it has access to full sun and well-draining soil, as it thrives under those conditions and may suffer in too much shade or moist soil. Additionally, feverfew is drought-tolerant once established, reducing the need for frequent watering. Pruning spent flowers can encourage a second bloom, highlighting its low-maintenance nature.

Feverfew is characterized by its distinctive feathery, fern-like foliage that is green with pinnately lobed leaves and hairy undersides. It features clusters of white to creamy petals surrounding a central yellow disc, resembling open daisy-like flowers or rounded balls. These blooms appear from June to September. The plant forms erect, branched stems, which are pubescent towards the tips and glabrous closer to the base. It typically reaches heights and widths of approximately 1-3 feet (30-90 cm) and 1-2 feet (30-60 cm), respectively. Feverfew exhibits a clumping, mounding growth habit.
