How to Propagate Australian violet?
(Viola hederacea)
Australian violet, also known as Ivy-leaf violet
Australian violet is successfully propagated using cuttings, a common method favored for preserving the genetic identity of the parent plant. For best results, select healthy semi-ripe stems and snip them just below a node. Strip the lower leaves and, if desired, dip the cut end in rooting hormone to encourage root growth. Plant the cutting in a mix of peat and perlite, ensuring it remains moist and well-drained. Rooting typically occurs within a few weeks, after which the young australian violet can be transplanted to a more permanent location with similar light and soil conditions as the parent.
