From Ground: Water dill beforehand to dampen the soil. With a spade or shovel, begin digging a wide trench around the plant, ensuring you keep the root ball intact. And then, carefully work the spade below the root ball, lifting the plant carefully.
From Pot: If your dill is in a pot, watering before the transplant can ease the removal process. Flip the pot upside down, while supporting the plant gently with your hand, the entire plant, including its root ball, should slide out.
From Seedling Tray: Water the dill in the tray first. With a garden trowel, carefully loosen the soil around the base of the plant, then gently remove the plant by lifting from its leaves or stem.
