From Ground: Start by watering the smooth brome thoroughly to moisten the soil. Dig a broad and deep enough circle around the plant with a garden shovel or spade, ensuring you don't damage the root system. Gradually work the spade underneath the root ball and carefully lift the plant out of the ground. If the plant is mature and large, a wheelbarrow might be needed for transporting the plant.
From Pot: Water the smooth brome adequately, then tip the pot sideways and gently work the plant out. In case the plant is stuck, lightly tap on the sides of the pot to loosen the root ball but don't pull forcefully on the plant.
From Seedling Tray: Dampen the soil around the smooth brome seedlings. With a gentle hand, hold the leaf, never the stem, and slowly pull the seedling out, making sure not to disrupt the fragile root system.
