From Ground: Start off by watering the spurge laurel plant to dampen the soil, which makes it easier to dig and minimizes root damage. Using a spade or shovel, dig a wide and deep enough trench around the plant, preserving the root ball intact. Carefully, work the spade under the root ball to lift the spurge laurel plant from its original location.
From Pot: If the spurge laurel is in a pot, watering the plant a few hours before transplanting can be beneficial. Turn the pot sideways, put your hand over the top of the pot and turn it upside down to gently take the plant out. Avoid pulling the plant as it may damage the plant's stem and roots.
From Seedling Tray: In case of a seedling tray, use a trowel to lift out the spurge laurel plant without disturbing the other plants. Try and keep as much of the original soil with the roots as possible to minimize shock.
