From Ground: Start with watering the anacua plant to dampen the soil which makes the removal process easier. Dig a wide trench around the plant using a shovel, taking care not to damage the root system. Slowly work your shovel or spade under and around the root ball to loosen it. Gently lift the plant out of the ground and immediately wrap the roots in a damp burlap sack to prevent them from drying out.
From a Pot: First water the anacua to make the soil easier to work with. Turn the pot upside down, give it a few taps to loosen the soil and carefully remove the plant. Be sure to support the base of the plant and the root ball during the transition.
From a Seedling Tray: Water the anacua seedling before removal. If possible, try to push the seedling out from the bottom rather than pulling from the top. Loosen the sides of the container and carefully lift the seedling by the root ball, being careful not to damage the young roots.
