From Ground: Begin by watering the mistletoe fig well a day before the transplant, this will make the soil and roots easier to work with. Dig a wide perimeter around the mistletoe fig with a spade or shovel, aiming to keep as much of the root system intact as possible. Gradually work under the root ball, gently shaking to release the roots from the soil. Once freed, place the plant delicacy into a wheelbarrow or plant pot for transportation.
From Pot: Water the mistletoe fig before the transplant to help lessen the stress. Turn the pot sideways, hold the mistletoe fig gently by the stems, and tap the bottom of its container until the plant slides out. You might need to give it a couple of taps. If the mistletoe fig is root bound (roots are tightly coiled around the pot), you may need to cut the container away. Make sure to support the bottom of the mistletoe fig so it doesn't break off from its root ball.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings well, then gently tease out each mistletoe fig seedling by lifting it from its leaf, not the stem that might easily break. The young plant, including its roots, should come out easily.
