From Ground: Initially, dampen the soil around the dye fig to reduce root stress. Dig a generous circumference around the plant with your shovel or spade, taking care not to damage the root ball. Gently work the spade underneath and lift the plant out carefully.
From Pot: Water the dye fig well before starting. Tilt the pot to the side and gently tap or press on the sides to loosen the soil. Gently slide the plant out, supporting the root ball with your hand. If the plant is root bound, carefully loosen the roots without extensive damage.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings to ensure the soil is moist. Use a spoon or a small gardening tool to ease the seedling out of the tray. Handle the delicate plant by the leaves, rather than the stem, to avoid injury.
