From Ground: Begin by watering the laelia orchid well, this will make the soil easier to work with and reduce stress on the plant. Using your spade or shovel, gently dig around the root ball of the laelia orchid, preserving as much of the root system as possible. Once the laelia orchid is loose, carefully lift it from the ground without pulling or tearing the roots.
From Pot: If the laelia orchid is in a pot, try to tip it on its side and gently pull the laelia orchid out while preserving the root ball. If the laelia orchid is root-bound (roots tightly wound in the pot), you may need to break the pot to get it out.
From Seedling Tray: If laelia orchid is started from a seed in a tray, gently squeeze the bottom of the cell or use a popper to pop the plant out. Avoid pulling on the stem as it can damage the plant.
