From Ground: Water the allegheny Monkeyflower properly to dampen the soil. This makes it easier to remove the plant and helps keep the root ball intact. Dig a wide circle around the plant using your shovel or spade, being careful not to cut into the roots. Gently work the spade under the root ball and lift the plant from the ground.
From Pot: Water the pot well before starting. Turn the pot sideways, hold the allegheny Monkeyflower gently by the base, and carefully tug it free. If the plant is stuck, tap the edges of the pot to loosen the root ball.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings before starting, this will help keep the root ball intact during removal. Grip the allegheny Monkeyflower by its leaves, not its stem, and gently lift it, along with its roots and surrounding soil out of the tray.
