From Ground: Begin by watering the white rattlesnakeroot which will facilitate easier extraction. Using a spade, make sure to dig a deep and wide trench around the white rattlesnakeroot as this will help to minimize root damage. Gently work the spade underneath the root ball and lift the plant from its original location. Please be aware not to damage the root ball during the process.
From Pot: First, water the white rattlesnakeroot and then turn the pot on its side. You may need to gently tap the sides of the pot to loosen the roots. Once the plant slides out, you can use your hands to carefully separate the roots that might be entwined at the base.
From Seedling Tray: After you water the seedlings, use a trowel or your fingers to gently remove the seedlings from each cell. Make sure to handle the seedlings by their leaves, as their stems can be extremely fragile.
