From Ground: Firstly, water smooth rose well until the ground is moist but not too wet around its base. This makes the soil easier to remove and minimizes root damage. Next, dig a circle around the smooth rose plant using your shovel or spade. Be sure enough space is left around the plant to avoid cutting off any crucial roots. Moving your shovel or spade around in a 'seesaw' motion can make this process easier and safer for the plant. After this, start digging under the plant, ensuring you go deep enough to get the main roots but not too deep to risk damaging them. Finally, carefully lift the rose plant and place it gently in your bucket or wheelbarrow for transport.
From Pot: Water the smooth rose in its pot before you start. As with ground removal, this will keep the roots safe. Hold the pot upside down and give it a gentle tap to loosen the plant. If the smooth rose plant remains stuck, running a knife around the inside of the pot can help.
From Seedling Tray: For a smooth rose seedling, use a small tool such as a teaspoon to carefully scoop out each seedling, ensuring you get as much of the roots as possible.
