From Ground: Begin by
watering the cabbage rose plant to dampen the soil. This will make it easier to remove the plant without damaging the roots. Then, using your gardening shovel or spade, begin to dig a wide trench around the plant, making sure the plant's root ball remains undisturbed. Carefully work the spade under the root ball to lift the plant from its original location. Handle it gently to avoid stress and damage to the plant.
From Pot: Water the cabbage rose lightly to moisten the soil. Turn the pot sideways and while supporting the plant and its root ball, tap the edge of the pot against a hard surface. The plant should slide out with the soil and root ball intact. If the plant is stuck, you may need to cut the pot away.
From Seedling Tray: Water the seedlings lightly, then use a small tool like a gardening trowel or even a spoon to carefully lift the seedling. Support the seedling by its leaves, not the stem or roots.
