Techniques to Encourage Flowering
Several techniques can encourage Common dogwood to bloom more profusely. Deadheading, or removing spent flowers, encourages the plant to redirect energy into forming new buds. Also, pruning done right after blooming can ensure that the plant has ample time to develop next year's flower buds. Soil amendments, such as adding bone meal or compost, can provide vital nutrients. Lastly, if your Common dogwood is still young, patience is key, as some plants take a few years to mature into prolific bloomers.
