Ideal Soil Types and pH Levels
The Dwarf iris thrives best in well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (around 6.0 to 7.0). Heavy, clay-like soils can retain too much moisture, which may lead to root rot, while sandy soils might drain too quickly, not providing enough water retention. Amending your garden soil with organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, can improve both drainage and nutrient content, creating an ideal environment for your plants.
