How to identify Sims aeonium (Aeonium simsii)
Sims aeonium is a compact, low-growing succulent reaching heights under 1 foot. This well-branched plant features dense, 8 inch wide rosettes composed of bright green, strap-shaped leaves with pointed tips. The leaves showcase dark green dashes underneath and a central maroon stripe above, edged with fine, nearly transparent white hairs. In late spring, sims aeonium produces vibrant yellow flowers in almost flat clusters, elevated 6 to 12 inches above the foliage on reddish stalks. The succulent has a ground-hugging growth form.
