How to identify Spanish snapdragon (Antirrhinum hispanicum)
Spanish snapdragon is an evergreen subshrub that typically reaches about 1 foot (30 cm) in height and spreads up to 2 feet (60 cm) wide. The plant boasts fuzzy gray-green foliage and displays a continuous bloom throughout the year, with flowering peaking in late spring to early summer and again in autumn. Flowers are characterized by their pink upper lips and whitish tips on the lower lip, with a yellow base. These blossoms are borne on short, upright spikes that rise just above the leafy plant body. Spanish snapdragon is hardy and adapts to full sun to light shade conditions as well as well-drained soils. The flower structure is noted for its resemblance to a bulbous nose.
