How to identify Hardy swamp-lily (Crinum bulbispermum)
Hardy swamp-lily, also known as Vaal river lily
Hardy swamp-lily features a rosette of arching, strap-like, gray-green leaves, each reaching roughly 2 feet (60 cm) in length and curving down towards the ground. From late spring to summer, its slender stalks arise, showcasing 8 to 13 fragrant, lily-like pink flowers, each about 4 inches (10 cm) wide. After the petals fall, hardy swamp-lily produces large pink fruit capsules, which house rounded seeds that germinate in the vicinity of the main plant.
