How to identify Spreading Rush (Juncus patens)
Spreading Rush is characterized by its grass-like appearance with dense, evergreen clumps emerging from short rhizomes. It has distinctive thin, rounded, gray-green stems that are leafless, standing erect at about 18 to 24 inches (45 to 60 cm) tall. Small, inconspicuous golden-brown flower clusters are borne just below the tips of these stems, blooming from spring to autumn. The plant maintains a robust form, capable of withstanding drought conditions once mature.
