How to identify Silk-reed (Neyraudia reynaudiana)
Silk-reed is a large, upright perennial grass, characterized by its thick blue-green culms approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. These culms tower to heights between 6 and 15 feet tall (1.8 to 4.6 meters), sporting nodes at intervals of about 6 inches (15 cm). It brandishes foot-long (30 cm), narrow green leaves that maintain an erect posture. Distinctive flower plumes emerge in late summer, extending well above the leaves with delicate, shimmering florets that gracefully arch over.
Thick blue-green culms reach 6-15 feet (1.8-4.6 meters) tall, with nodes every 6 inches (15 cm).
Narrow, erect green leaves grow up to 1 foot long (30 cm) on the perennial grass.
