Organic vs. Inorganic Fertilizers
When fertilizing Eastern cottonwood, you have the option of using organic or inorganic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers, such as compost and bone meal, release nutrients slowly and improve soil health over time. They are environmentally friendly and support beneficial soil organisms. In contrast, inorganic fertilizers, like commercial NPK formulations, offer an immediate nutrient boost, which can be particularly useful in addressing specific deficiencies. However, they can lead to nutrient runoff and don't improve soil structure. A balanced approach, incorporating both types, often yields the best results.
