Is White sagebrush toxic to humans?
White sagebrush is considered a severe allergen to some sensitive individuals. The plant is wind-pollinated and produces a vast amount of pollen during the pollination period, which can aggravate the symptoms of hayfever sufferers. If you have been in close proximity with this plant during the pollination season, watch out for a runny nose, watery, itchy or swollen eyes, sneezing, a cough, an itchy nose and fatigue, as these are all signs that you are suffering from hayfever. There is no evidence that white sagebrush has toxic effects when ingested, however, there has been some evidence to suggest direct contact between white sagebrush and the skin can result in dermatitis.
