Toxic parts to pets

Is Roman chamomile toxic to cat?

Roman chamomile is mildly toxic to cats if ingested in small amounts. Its juices contain a variety of toxic components that can cause gastrointestinal and skin irritation to cats. All parts of the plant are toxic. Not only live or dried plants, but also tea bags and essential oils contain these toxins. Most cat encounters with roman chamomile, however, are not fatal, as the acidic taste deters them from eating very much.

Is Roman chamomile toxic to dog?

Roman chamomile is mildly toxic to dogs if ingested in large amounts. All parts of the plant contain various essential oils as well as harmful acids (including tannic and anthemic acid). Contact with crushed or damaged plant parts may cause contact dermatitis, while eating too much of this plant can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and a loss of appetite. Thankfully, cases of roman chamomile poisoning are usually mild and work themselves out on their own.
