Many species of Clivia are moderately to severely poisonous to cats, and ingestion may create a veterinary emergency. Natal lilies contain lycorine and similar alkaloids. Some species are completely toxic, while others carry the toxins only in their bulbs. The most common symptoms of poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, cardiac arrhythmias and low blood pressure, convulsions, loss of appetite, lethargy, and tremors.

Is Natal lilies toxic to dog?

Poisoning from natal lilies can be a life-threatening emergency; if you believe your pet has consumed any part of this plant, seek immediate veterinary care. All parts of this plant contain harmful toxins, although these are found in the greatest concentrations in the plant's bulb, seeds, and fruits. A suite of poisonous alkaloids in these plants may cause vomiting, excessive drooling, bloody diarrhea, dizziness, and stomach pain even if a tiny amount is ingested. More severe cases may see symptoms including an increased heart rate, seizures, or death.
