Is Mints toxic to humans?

Mints is famous for its fresh smell. However, it also contains essential oils that can cause mild stomach upset in animals. Ingesting the concentrated essential oil of mints is extremely harmful to humans and animals, even in small doses.

Is Mints toxic to cat?

Cats should be prevented from chewing on on the moderately toxic mints. These plants contain lots of essential oils that a cat's digestive systems cannot tolerate. Although catmint and catnip - both part of the mint family - are safe in moderation, garden variety mint can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and liver issues if a cat ingests a large amount.

Is Mints toxic to dog?

Most species within the Mentha genus, commonly referred to as mints, are safe for dogs. One species, however, is a notable exception: *Mentha pulegium*, also known as European pennyroyal, which can be severely toxic. All parts of that plant contain substances that may cause vomiting and diarrhea, and, in extreme cases, liver failure or death, when consumed. Consult a veterinarian if this species was consumed.
