Is Sour cherry toxic to humans?
All members of the *Prunus* genus, including sour cherry, include the parts that are toxic if consumed. The twigs and seeds contain toxins in the form of hydrogen cyanide, a harmful substance if ingested. The symptoms can be severe, even resulting in death in the worst cases. Symptoms induced by this toxin include shortness of breath, pupil dilation, weakness, and in the worst cases, loss of consciousness and even death.
