Is Narrow-leaf pasque-flower toxic to humans?
Narrow-leaf pasque-flower remains quite mysterious in that no-one is sure of the exact toxic effects of this particular species. However, the Pulsatilla genus, in general, appears mightily dangerous if ingested. It has been found to cause gastrointestinal issues (vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea), and in severe circumstances convulsions, lowering of blood pressure, and a comatose state. Pulsatilla plants have been used to induce abortion in the past, so are not safe for ingestion by pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding. It's important to note that heating the plant can remove narrow-leaf pasque-flower's toxins.
