Is Pyronemataceae toxic to humans?
Pyronemataceae is a family of fungi that may contain several poisonous species, although information is limited by the lack of study. Geopora sumneriana, the Orange cup, is considered by some sources to be a poisonous species, although there are no records of what the toxic effects are, while another reliable source lists it only as a very tough mushroom that offers no nutritional value. In any event, people are unlikely to be poisoned by this mushroom since it is so tough that nobody would be likely to go to the trouble of eating it. Geopora arenosa is said to be poisonous if eaten raw, although again the toxic effects are unrecorded. As another generally unpalatable mushroom, it is unlikely to be accidentally consumed.
