Autumn snowflake
Acis autumnalis is a short bulbous perennial plant, growing to about 10 to 15 cm tall. Its leaves are narrow, often seeming to form tufts, and usually only appear after the flowers. A. autumnalis flowers in late summer to autumn, with one to four flowers per stalk, each carried on a long, thin pedicel. The white tepals are 9 to 14 mm long, pinkish at the base, less commonly all pink.

Water: Originating from the Mediterranean, autumn snowflake thrives in dry summers and wet winters. Drought-tolerant, it requires weekly watering to maintain soil moisture without over-saturation. Typically grown outdoors, autumn snowflake begins its growth cycle with autumn rains, showcasing delicate blooms.
Pruning: Autumn snowflake thrives with simple pruning, ideally done in early to late spring post-bloom. Trim dead foliage and spent flowers to promote healthy growth and a second bloom. Use clean tools for disease prevention, enhancing air circulation and the plant's overall vitality.
Propagation: Autumn snowflake is a delicate bulbous perennial that thrives when tuber clusters are divided and replanted. Separate clumps after foliage dies, plant at three times their size deep, 8cm apart in fertile, well-drained soil, and water sparingly initially, increasing as shoots emerge.
