Wild lime is a genus of flowering plants in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, subfamily Acalyphoideae. It is native to Latin America and the Caribbean, with one species extending northward into the southernmost part of Texas.
Water:
Adapted to dry conditions, wild lime exhibits excellent drought tolerance, requiring watering every 2-3 weeks with soil allowed to dry. Typically grown outdoors, it effectively regulates water usage across varying climates, ensuring vitality even under moisture-scarce conditions.
Propagation:
Wild lime propagates via seed sowing, semi-hardwood cuttings, or air layering. Successful propagation requires scarification/stratification for seeds, late summer cuttings treated with rooting hormone, well-draining soil, consistent warmth, and bright, indirect light. Care must be taken to avoid overwatering.
