The allamanda are a group of tropical, evergreen vines, shrubs and trees. Most species within the genus sport large, showy yellow flowers, and many of these species are cultivated as ornamentals (either outdoors in tropical areas, or as houseplants in temperate regions). Allamanda do well in disturbed areas such as roadsides, ditches, and cleared fields. Quick growers and aggressive colonizers, they are considered an invasive species in some of the tropical places where they've been introduced, such as Australia.
