Alluaudia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Didiereaceae. Spines are arranged around the leaves. There are six species, all endemic to Madagascar. Most occur in the southwestern subarid forest-thicket vegetation of the island.
Water:
Alluaudia excels in arid conditions with excellent drought resistance, needing minimal watering—ideally once every three weeks. Indoor care includes occasional misting to mimic low humidity. As a succulent, alluaudia is ideal for container gardening due to its water storage capabilities.
Propagation:
Propagation of alluaudia involves seed sowing or stem cuttings. Use well-draining sandy soil and provide warm, bright, indirect light for seeds. Cuttings require dry, warm conditions to callus. Overwatering should be avoided, with moderate difficulty in germination and callus formation.
