Water: Athene Amaryllis requires consistently moist soil, especially in spring and summer with watering every 1-2 days. During flowering, daily watering is essential, while winter dormancy requires less frequent watering (1-2 times per week). Use standing water and avoid direct contact with the bulb or leaves.
Fertilize: Athene Amaryllis can be fertilized one month after planting. Apply phosphate and potash monthly before flowering, then switch to high nitrogen and potassium after blooms fade. Avoid fertilizing during dormancy and be cautious of over-fertilization to prevent damage or poor growth.
Pruning: Athene Amaryllis features large blooms that thrive with proper pruning during early to late spring. Timely removal of spent flowers and yellowing leaves fosters new growth and vigor. Excessive pruning should be avoided to minimize shock, ensuring healthier blooms and overall health.
Propagation: Athene Amaryllis propagates via seeding, bulb division, and cuttage. Bulb division is preferred for home planting, producing 2-3 child bulbs annually. After drying for 2 days post-division, plant bulbs 2/3 deep in peat and sandy soil, watering once and resuming after new leaf sprouting.
